misty sun

December 5, 2011

Today I share with you a picture that I made a couple of days ago when the morning started out with a rather dense fog, but with the promise of becoming a great sunny day.

It is seldom that you can look at the sun without protection, but that day the mist provided the necessary screen so that  I was able to look at the sun and even make the photograph.

The total picture of that moment was mystical and mysterious at the same time… the sun being our source of energy, life and light being veiled like this, is a stunning beauty. The effect of which is not really captured on this picture but was very present at that day and during that moment.

It lifted my spirit for the rest of the day: to have experienced such a moment is a real gift.

This fall is different in many more ways, which I will be sharing with you the upcoming days with more takes of, in my view at least, special natural phenomena. So stay tuned for more.

Living next to the river Aude we experience very often mist hanging over the river in between the mountain ridges. When driving to higher elevations you see the veils hovering over the river beds. Always a spectacular sight.

  2. This photograph is atmospheric, in both senses of the word. Well done.
