Underneath you will find a short description of one of the places you will be visiting while joining us on our Spring Special tour of Southern France which also contains 3 days spent in Spain, visiting the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, the Dali Museum in Figueres and this famous Monastery of Montserrat.
The Benedictine Monk retreat at Montserrat offers you some of the most spectacular mountain views. And it has the most unusual rock formations in the whole of Catalonia.
You will learn about the Holy Grotto where visitations by the Virgin Mary were reported, the World famous Montserrat Choir boys recitals along with details on the mountain walks. For many visitors a trip to Montserrat is the highlight of their visit.
Not only is Montserrat Monastery of significant religious importance but the natural beauty surrounding the monastery is simply breathtaking.
The monestary church is one of the most famous ones holding a statue of a Black Madonna.
In my ow experience this place is of such a high energy, with an almost overwhelming presence, located in a splendidly formed mountainous environment that a visit to just see it and have the feel of it, would already be sufficient.
But entering the square and going into the church/chapel and seeing the Black Madonna on her royal seat makes it an unforgettable day and a special encounter. At the one hand it offers the recognition of the well-known religious atmosphere while at the other hand it also offers the mystery that is so much surrounding the black madonnas in this wider area.
You are very welcome to have your own experience of a feature like this when joining us on our Spring Special from April 2 – 12, 2011.
